Social entrepreneurship is redefining the purpose of business, creating solutions that strengthen communities, drive economic value, and sustain the planet.
Yet the path to entrepreneurship, and particularly social entrepreneurship, remains out of reach for many. The financial, social, and intellectual capital necessary for business success too often favors entrepreneurs with existing financial security, education, and established networks. By contrast, those who lack these resources face persistent barriers in starting, growing, and scaling their businesses, and thus remain largely underrepresented in the startup ecosystem.
Recognizing that this resistance was not a reflection of capability but of access to opportunity, RevHub piloted the NorthSTAR OC initiative with two strategic aims:
The results of the two-year pilot were significant–engaging more than 14,000 people in business exploration, incubating 4,000 founders, and launching 223 ventures. Of these entrepreneurs, 68% were women, 65% identified as non-white, and nearly half came from households earning under $59,000 per year.
Building on this success, the RevHub Center for Inclusive Social Entrepreneurship, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was established to make this work permanent, ensuring inclusive entrepreneurship continues to expand opportunity and strengthen communities for generations.
To mobilize engagement and resources to amplify entrepreneurial opportunities for underrepresented communities to thrive and foster meaningful societal innovation.
A future where inclusive, regenerative entrepreneurship restores equity, strengthens communities, and sustains the planet.
We convene and organize an inclusive entrepreneurial support ecosystem which empowers communities to pursue, start, and scale ventures that drive impact.
Entrepreneurship has the power to address our world’s most pressing social and environmental challenges and propel us toward a regenerative economy. But for too long, the promise of entrepreneurship has been limited to those individuals with existing financial security, education, and well-established professional networks. Those without these advantages face resistance at every step and struggle to bring their promising ideas to light.
However, by investing in these underestimated founders, we tap into diverse perspectives that lead to new solutions, new markets, and long-term economic vitality. Removing barriers does not just help individual founders. It strengthens entire ecosystems and accelerates ideas that drive prosperity for everyone.
To do this, we ensure that solutions are:
Built with communities, not for them. Real impact happens when the people closest to the challenge help design the solution.
Accessible to all. We illuminate pathways to the knowledge, resources, and relationships every entrepreneur needs to succeed.
Transformative, not temporary. We don’t just fix symptoms; we help redesign the systems that caused the barriers in the first place.
Built to last. Every venture we support creates lasting social and economic value for the people it serves.
